Water, Water, Water

As promised with the start of this weight management series, let’s start with water! Far too often, we don’t realize just how much of an effect our choice of drink has on our bodyweight. Quick and easy way to start your weight heading in the right direction……DRINK ORE WATER! In fact, in many cases, when an individual has a feeling that they perceive as hunger, they may actually be dehydrated, not hungry. Water is vital! Over 66% of your body weight is water, hence the reason is plays such a large role in weight control.

Now, do we have to say…….drink plenty of water? It is recommended that everyone drink at least 8-10 glasses per day. While that may sound like a lot and your initial reaction might be just like so many others…..I can’t drink that much water! Sure you can! Work up to it! Your body needs water, a lot of it. Water doesn’t just flush all the toxins out of your body, but it makes you feel and look better and healthier.

The best thing about water is you can drink as much as you want because it has no calories at all. When you’re drinking a lot of water, you eat less as well because you won’t be fighting off hunger pangs. Remember, if you feel hungry; try drinking a glass of water first. While you may truly be hungry, if nothing else the water intake will fill you some, possibly causing you to eat a bit less!

The simplest way to ensure ample water intake throughout the day is by simply carrying a jug. Come on now, no excuses. Is that really that much to ask? A little preparation really goes a long way here. Fill your jug or container each night and put it in the fridge. Simple! Just don’t forget to take it with you each morning. After a week, it will be a habit!

A few more water thoughts…… Start each day with a glass of water immediately upon waking, drink a glass of water before each meal and lastly, down another glass during each meal. If you did these three things, your water intake has been met. This doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t drink or sip water between meals, but this should show you just how easy it is to reach your water intake goals each day.

For those who work in extremely warm environments or who are manual laborers of any sort, remember, the more energy you exert, the more water you require! Drink more! Athletes, hard trainers, this goes for you as well! Drink before, during and after physical activities.

Using a product such as Rehydrate, especially women or hard-training athletes, can prove extremely beneficial. Rehydrate replaces key electrolytes and minerals lost throughout the daily routine and includes antioxidants, carbohydrates and other nutrients that promote optimal hydration and recovery.

Next we tackle those other extra liquids we all overindulge in! See you soon! DRINK YOUR WATER!
