Carbohydrate Timing/Type

Here we go right? Yesterday we told you, sure…..go ahead, eat more often! Today you know what’s coming right? Wait a second now, this won’t be that bad! We aren’t taking everything away from you so relax just a little. We’re merely going to show you a neat little trick that can be quite easily followed each and every day! And yes, it revolves around carbohydrates!

To set the record straight, we are not “picking” on carbs in this post. Just like everything else, there is a time and place for them and that is exactly what we intend to show you today! A simple way to positively effect your body composition without having to drastically change your eating habits or missing the foods that you enjoy, within reason again!

Carbohydrates are required! Let’s make sure this is clear. Carbs are REQUIRED! Your body needs them as its primary fuel source. This, folks, is why so many of those fad diets fail you. The lack of knowledge surrounding carbohydrate consumption creates quite a mess. You heard me right? They are required! Ok! Good. Now that we have cleared that up, let’s focus on the correct way to manipulate your carb intake each day to reap positive rewards and not increasing fat stores!

It’s very simple really. How many of us eat our largest meal of the day at night? Yes, most of us! And what do these meals usually consist of? Rice, beans, pasta, bread, potatoes, etc. All of those starchy carbs! Am I getting ready to tell you not to eat those foods? Nope! Just going to show you how to alter “when” you eat them to better serve your look and feel.

Quick question. For most of us, do we exert more energy during the day while we are awake, going to school, taking care of the kids, working, etc. or at night while we are watching TV, reading or sleeping? If you said during the day, you are correct! So why oh why do we so often stuff our faces with carbs at night during dinner, right before going to bed? Do we really need all that extra fuel to sleep? NO! So there is the basis for this small change!

Eat your starchy carbs earlier in the day, breakfast, pre-lunch snack, lunchtime even, but cut them out after lunch! CUT THEM OUT! Completely! Replace those foods on your plate during your afternoon snacks and dinner with veggies! It won’t kill you I promise! Yes you will need to make a concerted effort for a few days to force yourself away from the rice and potatoes and bread, but once you start to see the changes this simple adjustment has, you will never go back to that nightly carb bloating routine! I promise!

Again, this really isn’t that tough to accomplish, but the rewards are tremendous! Your body will no longer have those excess calories ingested at night just sitting around waiting to be turned into fat since they aren’t being burned! Fuel your body when it needs it most, earlier in the day! In addition to the changes you will see in your body by adjusting your carb timing, you should also notice more balanced energy levels throughout the day, assuming you aren’t skipping meals that is!

Tack this carb timing/type tip onto your first three, drinking more water each day, cutting sodas, sugars and alcohol and  eating smaller, more frequent meals, and I promise you, you are well on your way to altering the way you look and feel!

And seriously, are these tips really that straining? Come on now! The next couple of tips are torturous compared to these……just kidding! Or am I? See you tomorrow!
